Palmyra is holding a number of upcoming family-friendly and public events.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, a “proud” borough tradition continues as Palmyra Downtown Public Safety Day returns for a day of food, games, rides, crafts and vendors along Broad Street. The event is sponsored by Independence Fire Co. No. 1, the Palmyra police and fire departments and the borough’s public events committee.

A free vaccination clinic will take place on Saturday, May 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Chief Flournoy Park. It will be open to all pet owners in New Jersey. Pets must be individually crated or leashed; use of soft crates if available is encouraged.

Friends, family and neighbors are invited for a Palmyra Borough Community Dinner on the Delaware planned for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at Cinnaminson and Bank avenues. Tables and chairs will be provided and participants are asked to bring everything else.

On Monday, May 25 – Memorial Day – borough officials and the War Memorial Committee invite residents, families and visitors to honor men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The solemn observance begins at 10 a.m. at the War Memorial, Parry and Cinnaminson avenues.

The observance will include reflections and tributes recognizing the courage, dedication and sacrifice of our fallen heroes. All are welcome.

The borough also holds two townwide yard sales, one in spring and one in fall. Sales outside of those days require a permit that can be found on the borough’s website at www.boroughofpalmyra.com. The spring yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, with a rain date of Sunday. The fall yard sale is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12.

The borough will provide treasure maps for registered sales; sign up by Tuesday, May 26, to be included. For more information, email townwideyardsale@boroughofpalmyra.com.

Public works will be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for bulk trash dropoff during the sales. No permit needed; just clean up after.
