Robin Walton, senior vice president of external affairs and chief philanthropy officer of Inspira, has been elected chair of the Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey’s executive committee.

“This appointment reflects Walton’s outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to making meaningful impact across the South Jersey region,” said Inspira in a press release.

Leaders of the executive committee are selected by the chamber’s nominating committee. Walton’s election marks a significant milestone in the chamber’s 151-year history, as she is the fourth woman and first African American to hold the position.

In both her external affairs and chief philanthropy officer roles, Walton has been instrumental in Inspira’s community outreach. In addition to her continuous efforts to foster partnerships with key stakeholders, she has also enhanced health-care accessibility and equity in the area, from championing anti-violence initiatives to paving the way for behavioral-health expansions.

“Robin has been an active member of the (chamber) for more than 14 years” noted Christina Renna, the organization’s president and CEO, “serving in various leadership roles to help guide our organization and its work on behalf of the regional community … We are excited to work with her in this new capacity and continue to move the chamber forward together.”

The chamber was established in 1873 and is considered the region’s largest and most active business organization, representing South Jersey, greater Philadelphia and northern Delaware.
