The United Way of Gloucester County held the first session of its 2025 Lead Gloucester County (LEAD GC) program on Sept. 5 at Rowan College of South Jersey.

The comprehensive certificate course aims to develop a pool of well-informed, skilled and resourceful individuals, positioned to serve as business and community leaders in the county. Coordinated by UWGC Executive Director Michael Gower and facilitated by UWGC board member Claire Riggs and Rowan Associate Vice President Candice Racite, this year’s program is sponsored by Rowan; Atlantic City Electric; and Acenda Integrated Health, with additional support from Columbia Bank.

The 2025 class is comprised of 12 diverse, next-generation leaders representing corporate, business, government and nonprofits.

“LEAD GC is here to educate, empower and engage the next generation of leaders, helping them grow their careers while driving progress and prosperity in Gloucester County,” Gower said. “As many local businesses, corporations and nonprofits face succession challenges, this program is building a pipeline of well-prepared, empathetic leaders ready to step up.

“Through hands-on leadership experiences and an inside look at the issues and opportunities shaping our county,” he added, “LEAD GC goes beyond traditional training to prepare participants for the roles of tomorrow.”

LEAD GC spans nine months, with sessions held from September to May on the first Friday of each month. In addition to broadening leadership skills and knowledge of the county where they work and/or reside, each participant gets a Nonprofit Governance Board certificate to prepare them for service with local nonprofits in volunteer leadership capacities.
