The Deptford library is hosting a monthly program dedicated to UFOs, not unidentified flying objects, but instead unfinished objects.

On the fourth Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., individuals can bring to the library unfinished artwork. Supplies and materials are provided by participants, but the library offers a room with space and tables. The next session will take place on Feb. 25.

“Crafters are welcome to bring their ongoing projects and use our nice big tables and wide spaces to work on them,” said librarian Michelle Burns. “People bring all sorts of projects, from crochet and knitting to quilting and painting. Some people even bring their own sewing and embroidery machines and set up in our meeting room.”

The sessions are not meant to teach, but to host invited crafters. Like-minded participants also give each other pointers and provide encouragement.

“Some of these crafters say it’s good to get together with others who enjoy these crafts, just for the camaraderie, and some say they need to get out of the house in order to focus,” Burns noted.

The program is a spinoff of sorts from the library’s Saturday craft sessions; its crotchet and knitting group sessions on the first and third Saturday of the month from 10 to 11:30 a.m.; and a sewing group that meets from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The library also hosts adult coloring sessions on the first and third Friday of the month at 11 a.m. and the Crafty Corner for adults on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.

“These are just crafters who use this time to dedicate to their crafts,” Burns said, “and the library is happy to allow them the space for it.”
