Deptford High School music teacher Mike Armstrong attended the International Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago last month, the country’s largest and most prestigious music education conference.

Armstrong learned about the latest topics in the world of instrumental music education and networked with directors, composers and music retailers from across the country. He was also invited to perform as part of the Atlantic Brass Band.

In the history of the clinic, only three groups from New Jersey have ever been invited to perform.

“Thank you to our administration for supporting the continued professional development of our educators,” the school district posted on social media.
