The annual Gloucester County 4-H Fair will be returning to the 4-H Fairgrounds in Mullica Hill, featuring with it four days of events and activities from Thursday, July 23 to Sunday, July 26.
The first three days of the event will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the fourth day will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A one-time fee for parking is required but covers all four days of the event. According to the event’s website, more than 70 events will take place.
“From thrilling horse shows and petting zoos to interactive magic acts, live music, and hands-on contests, there’s something for everyone in the family,” the fairgrounds said online.” Don’t miss highlights like the Tractor Pulls, the Fair Royalty Pageants, the BBQ dinners, pony rides and fun competitions like Doggie Knock Down and Out and the Stick Horse Jump.”
Some of the other featured moments of the fair include a livestock auction on Friday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m., a foam party on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the car show on Saturday, July 25 from noon to 5 p.m. and the fair royalty competition with the baby parade beginning Saturday at 2 p.m.

The fair itself traces its roots back to 1947, according to website of Rutgers University who is partnered with the fairgrounds.
“Each year,” a spokesperson of Rutgers said, “a wide variety of activities are planned to encourage participation by agricultural and commercial exhibitors. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the equestrian, livestock and other 4‑H projects exhibited in arenas, pens and stalls and demonstrated through shows and competitions. For only one parking fee, Fair attendees can take advantage of all four-days of Fair to discover the many facets of Gloucester County, the 4‑H Fair and ‘Jersey Fresh-Jersey Grown’ products.”
One of the things the fair also shows off is the accomplishments of the youths associated with the 4-H. These kids volunteer their time to learn about the importance of livestock and agriculture through educational programs.
“Visitors enjoy the agricultural exhibits and contests for which our fair is known,” the spokesperson said. “In addition, visitors can see endless displays of 4‑H projects, look forward to daily rides and games, magic shows, musical acts, tractor parades, and craft exhibits, demonstrations and sales.”
