The next session of the Deptford library’s crochet and knitting group will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The group is run by community members and meets on the first and third Saturday of the month for free sessions. Anyone with a passion for knitting is welcome, whether novice or expert.

“It’s a group of people who get together and work on their needle crafts,” said librarian Michelle Burns. “It isn’t really a teaching/learning situation, but if you were in the middle of a project and had an issue, these lovely ladies would pool their crafting experience and could probably come up with a solution.”

Participants can bring projects they’re working on to the meetings and group members will share tips and tricks. The sessions are not so much classes as discussions that offer help.

A similar program at the library is Sewing with Friends, which takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month. The next session is Jan. 18.

A library card isn’t necessary for either program. Keep up with news and updates on possible cancellations on the either the library’s website or its Facebook page.

“Needle crafts are so relaxing to do, and they can be done alone, but it’s also nice to meet up with people with similar interests,” Burns said. “Project ideas are shared, as are tips and tricks. Bring a project you are working on, then sit back and relax with others who share the same interest in crocheting/knitting.”
