A food collection in Burlington County will continue through Friday, Nov. 28, despite the end of the federal government shutdown and the resumption of SNAP benefits.
Local food banks have experienced record demand due to the shutdown, so local offices are collecting new, unexpired, shelf-stable pantry items to help replenish community pantries in the county. Suggested donations include canned chicken, tuna, fruits, veggies, soups, beans, pasta, rice, jar sauce, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, oatmeal, granola bars and baby food.
Drop off donations are accepted at the offices of state Sen. Troy Singleton, 400 North Church St., suite 260 in Moorestown; Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, 750 Centerton Road in Mount Laurel; Assemblyman Balvir Singh, 8008 Route 130 North, suite 450 in Delran; and Assemblywoman Andrea Katz at 100 High St., suite 101 in Mount Holly.
Canned goods only can be donated at any county government office or library.
