Early voting for New Jersey’s primary election kicks off on June 3, and Burlington County voters will have two additional early-voting locations where they can securely cast their ballots in person with a machine.
A total of nine early-voting locations will be open during the six-day early-voting period from Tuesday, June 3, through Sunday, June 8. The new sites are at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington City, 150 East 2nd St., and the Cinnaminson Community Center at 902 Manor Road.
The early location in Evesham/Marlton has been moved from Marlton’s Gibson House Community Center to the Blue Barn Recreational Facility, also in the township.
During the early-voting period, voters from any of the county’s 40 municipalities can go to any of the nine early-voting locations to cast their ballot via machine. This is different from Election Day, when voters must go to their assigned polling spot in their town of residence.
All nine locations will open daily during the early-voting period from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from June 3 through June 7, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 8. For all the locations, visit www.co.burlington.nj.us.
Any registered voter is eligible to cast a ballot at an early-voting location, but only declared Republicans and Democrats can cast ballots in the primary election. Unaffiliated voters can participate by declaring a party affiliation in advance of the election or at the polls during early voting.
Declaration forms are available from the county Superintendent of Elections or online at https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/301/Superintendent-of-Elections. Completed forms should be returned to the Superintendent of Elections office in person at 301 Harper Drive, Moorestown, or by mail to P.O. Box 6000, Mount Holly, 08060.
Voters who have already requested or received a vote-by-mail ballot but appear at an early-voting location or election day polling place will need to vote on a provisional ballot to ensure multiple votes are not cast by the same person. All valid provisional ballots are counted in the vote totals for each election.
Vote by mail
Registered voters from either party can still request a vote-by-mail (VBM) ballot from the county clerk’s office from now through June 9 until 3 p.m. Vote-by-mail applications are available online at https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/996/Vote-by-Mail-Information.
Requests for a vote-by-mail ballot must be received by the clerk’s office no later than June 3. After that date, registered voters must go in person to the clerk’s offices at either the county elections building at 301 Harper Drive in Moorestown or at the county clerk’s office in Mount Holly to make a request. The final day to request and receive a mail ballot in person is June 9 at 3 p.m.
Completed VBM ballots can be placed in any of the county’s 29 secure drop boxes. A list of the drop boxes is available at https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/2102/Secure-Ballot-Drop-Boxes.
Voters may also hand deliver VBM ballots directly to the county board of elections office at 301 Harper Drive, Moorestown. They can also be sent to the office via regular mail. All completed VBM ballots must be postmarked, placed in a secure drop box or hand delivered to the election board before polls close at 8 p.m. on June 10.
Voters with questions about the election and voting process can call the county elections hotline at (609) 265-VOTE (8683).
