The Edge Fitness Clubs reopened their Cherry Hill location on March 13 following $500,000 worth of remodeling that included adding InfraRED yoga, a new training area and new equipment.

After eight weeks of work, the location had a soft launch on March 9 before its full reopening. It’s the first of six area Edge Fitness Clubs to have InfraRED yoga studios, which are similar to hot yoga that is done in a heated room. The InfraRED studio has heated panels for each its 30 spots.

The township club on Route 38 hasn’t undergone major changes other than new equipment since 2016, but it now has about 8,000 members. Assistant general manager Taylor Ingram has tried out the new yoga spots, as have clients.

“Everybody has been loving them so far,” she said. “It has has definitely been a huge success. At this moment, we’re seeing all our members, whether that be people from recovery, people who are runners, people who are just enjoying lifting or finding some enjoyment in there.

“It’s really nice to hear the positive feedback about how much people are liking the classes so far.”

Ingram said the club has gained about 208 members since earlier this month, as the upgrades drew more people.

“From the soft launch on, it definitely has helped bring people in, really experiencing it and then wanting to be a part of the community,” Ingram explained. “That is something I would say is really great about the gym … For us, we want to make sure we’re providing a good member experience. That speaks to much to the members in the gym as well.

“I think it’s a very special environment.”

Besides Cherry Hill, there are three other Edge Fitness Clubs that will have InfraRED yoga studios, including Voorhees; Wayne, Pennsylvania; and Christiana, Delaware. Ingram isn’t sure when work will be finished in Voorhees, but it will replace its cinema – where members watch movies while on a treadmill – with the InfraRED studio.

As part of the redesign in Cherry Hill, the area that occupies kids while their parents exercise has also been replaced by InfraRED yoga, but members who need child care can find it at other locations.

“You can come to Cherry Hill if you want the cinema that day,” Ingram noted. “Or if you want kids club, you have Voorhees, Deptford Township and Delran. ” … The buildings are only so big, so we didn’t want to take away the floor from our members. We just wanted to add to the experience … here to utilize InfraRED as well.”

Vinny Sansone, president and founder of Edge Fitness Clubs, issued a press release about the changes at its area locations.

“The Edge Fitness Clubs has always been about creating an empowering, community-driven environment where members can achieve real results,” Sansone said. “The Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Deptford, Plymouth Meeting, Wayne and Christiana grand reopenings reflect our ongoing commitment to innovation, giving members access to both pro-gym style training and boutique fitness experiences in one inspiring space.”

The first of the club’s national locations to get an InfraRED yoga studio is in Fairfield, Connecticut. That happened last year.
