The emergency entrance at Virtua Berlin reflects the health system’s commitment to accessible, high-quality care across South Jersey.
The region’s largest health system has earned recognition for its workplace culture and commitment to employee well-being.
The nonprofit Virtual Health has landed on three lists honoring top employers across the country, two compiled by Newsweek and one by Modern Healthcare magazine. They reflect Virtua’s goal to build a purpose-driven, inclusive and supportive work environment for its more than 15,000 employees across South Jersey, including Berlin.
For the first time, Virtua has made Newsweek’s 2025 list of America’s Greatest Workplaces and its inaugural list of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Health Care. The rankings are based on feedback from more than 250,000 U.S. workers in 78 industries, with evaluations focused on company culture, compensation and benefits, work-life balance and career advancement opportunities.
Virtua is also on Modern Healthcare’s 2025 Best Places to Work in health list, the only state health system to earn the designation, which is based on confidential employee surveys conducted by the Workforce Research Group, with a focus on staff engagement and satisfaction.
“We are proud to cultivate an environment where people feel genuinely valued, supported and connected to a purpose greater than themselves,” said Rhonda Jordan, executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Virtua. “These honors affirm that our people feel inspired to do their best work for each other and our community.”
Virtua operates five hospitals and more than 400 care locations where patients rely on the system’s nearby facilities for both routine and specialized care.
“This recognition from Newsweek and Modern Healthcare reflects the passion, skill and dedication of our colleagues,” noted Dennis W. Pullin, president and CEO of Virtua Health. “It also speaks to our collective promise to be here for good, for our team and for the communities we serve.”
Virtua’s workplace excellence has been noted throughout the past year. Newsweek named Virtua to its 2025 list of Best Places to Work for Women, and ast August, Forbes named Virtua one of the Best Employers in New Jersey for the sixth consecutive year.
