The Camden County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting on Feb. 20 to recognize and honor outstanding contributions to the community, including those of Voorhees resident Dr. Jatin V. Mehta, Ph.D.
Mehta received a proclamation for his service and leadership as an entrepreneur and community advocate. He is the CEO of MetaSense Inc., a Minority Business Certified company based in the township. Metha is a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council and also serves on the Voorhees Cultural and Diversity Committee.
He has also played a pivotal role in business and technology development, serving as an ambassador for the New Jersey Technology Council and engaging with local chambers of commerce.
Mehta was asked what inspired his service and what message he has for others who want to contribute to their communities.
“My inspiration to continue making an impact is deeply rooted in the values instilled in me since childhood,” he explained. “My parents taught me the profound joy of service, and that principle has been a guiding light throughout my life. My wife’s unwavering support has also enabled me to dedicate more time and energy to community work, for which I am immensely grateful.
“Furthermore, the teachings of my guru, Pramukhswami Maharaj, have provided a profound and catalytic spiritual fuel,” Mehta added. “His life’s message, ‘In the joy of others lies our own,’ resonates deeply with me and has transformed my understanding of service.
“It’s not just about doing good deeds, but about finding genuine joy in the well-being of others.”
What advice does Mehta have for businesses that want to contribute to the community?
“My message to anyone looking to contribute is this: Live with intention,” he explained. “Imagine yourself on your death bed, reflecting on your life. What moments would you want to relive? What actions would bring you pride? Let that vision guide your choices today. Seek opportunities to serve, to uplift and to make a positive impact.
“Every act of kindness, every moment of selfless service, is a moment you’ll cherish,” Mehta added. “Don’t wait for the perfect moment, create it. Find the joy in serving, and you’ll discover a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.”
Beyond his business accomplishments, Mehta has been a strong proponent of education and mentorship. As vice president of NICE Inc. and regional coordinator for the North South Foundation, he has supported educational initiatives for underprivileged children. His efforts have been widely recognized: Mehta earned a place among the top 10 innovators in the U.S. and was featured in Time magazine as an Iconic Most Disruptive Business Leader, defined as a business or individual who makes a difference.
“Receiving this proclamation from the Camden County Commissioners is deeply humbling and incredibly meaningful,” Mehta noted. “It’s a recognition that the work I’ve dedicated myself to within our community is truly making a difference. This award isn’t just for me, it’s a testament to the collective effort of everyone I’ve had the privilege of working alongside.
“It validates that our shared vision of a stronger, more vibrant Camden County is being realized.”
