Cinnaminson voters will decide on two school bond referendums totaling $76 million during a special election on Tuesday, Sept. 15, with the polls open from 2 to 8 p.m.
The first question on the ballot will concern a $57.7 million bond for facility upgrades at five district schools, and the second question will concern an $18.3 million bond for elective school projects at Memorial School, Eleanor Rush School and Cinnaminson High School. Question 1 must pass for the question 2 projects to be approved.
Polling places will be at the East Riverton Community Center, 905 James St.; Cinnaminson Community Center, 902 Manor Rd.; Cinnaminson High School auditorium, 1197 Riverton Rd.; Cinnaminson Middle School gymnasium, 312 N. Forklanding Rd.; Eleanor Rush School, 1200 Wynwood Drive; and New Albany School, 2701 New Albany Rd.
If question 1 is approved, property taxes on an average assessed home of $236,538 will increase by about $33.25 per month for a total of $399.68 per year. If question 2 is also approved, that will be an additional $13.34 per month increase. In that case the yearly increase will be a total of approximately $559.76. New Jersey’s Debt Service Aid program will cover $17.9 million of the total cost.
The improvements in Question 1 include:
Memorial School
Repaving the drop off loop in the parking lot, new poured surfaces on the playground, replacing the sanitary sewer line, a public address system and security camera expansion.
Eleanor Rush School
Expanding the parking lot, replacing the roof and replacing ceilings at various locations, toilet room renovations, HVAC improvements, replacing water fountains and the public address system, security camera expansion, a new fire alarm system, electric service upgrades and a new eight-classroom addition.
New Albany School
Expansions of the parking lots, new poured surfaces on the playground, roof replacement, HVAC improvements, replacing the public address system, security camera expansion, electric service upgrades, a new one-story gymnasium, six pre-K classrooms and bathroom additions to the art and music classrooms.
Middle School
Ceiling replacements, new cafeteria sound boards, a new handicap life, hall locker replacements, new STEM shop and storage area, a new e-sports arena and robotics classroom, HVAC improvements, security camera expansion, a new emergency generator and electric service upgrades.
High School
Restoring the old gym roof, improvements to the auxiliary gymnasium, a new STEM lab, new video scoreboards, a new e-sports and robotics classroom, replacing the auditorium stage floor and ceiling ultraviolet light replacements.
The improvements in Question 2 include:
- A new one-story PreK addition with six classrooms and bathroom additions, plus expanding the parking lot at Memorial School.
- A new one-story gymnasium addition at Eleanor Rush School.
- A new stadium complex at Cinnaminson High School with a new turf field and track replacements, a new track and field events area, security camera and wireless upgrades, a new concession stand and bathroom building, and converting a multi-purpose grass field into a new turf field in front of the school.
