Local program continues building a competitive swimming route for Vineland and South Jersey athletes.
Dolphin Swim Team Vineland is preparing to begin its second year as a year-round USA Swimming program, continuing its mission to provide competitive swimmers with the opportunity to train, develop and compete while remaining in their local community.
Established as a year-round USA Swimming team in 2025, Dolphin Swim Team Vineland was created in response to the need for additional year-round competitive swimming opportunities in the Vineland area.
Through a partnership with Vineland Public Schools, the program utilizes the Vineland High School pool to provide consistent training for athletes throughout the year.
“Our goal is to build a program that gives swimmers in Vineland and the surrounding communities a place to develop from their earliest years in the sport through high-level competitive swimming,” said Jennifer Neri Masucci, president of Dolphin Swim Team Vineland. “We have incredibly talented swimmers in this area. We want to give them the coaching, training and opportunities they need to continue developing right here at home.”
Building a Swimming Pipeline in Vineland: The year-round USA Swimming program represents the next chapter in a swimming tradition that has been part of the Vineland community for generations.
Dolphin Swim Team Vineland’s goal is to create a strong developmental pathway where young swimmers can enter the sport, learn proper technique, advance through increasingly competitive training groups and ultimately pursue championship-level swimming.
The organization is based on maintaining a pathway locally that benefits not only individual swimmers, but the entire Vineland swimming community.
“Our younger swimmers are the future of swimming in Vineland,” Masucci said. “When we can introduce children to the sport, develop them through a competitive club program and watch them eventually represent their schools and community, everyone benefits.”
The program welcomes swimmers across a range of ages and competitive levels. Training groups are structured to allow athletes to progress based on their ability, commitment and competitive goals.
Coaching emphasizes stroke technique, endurance, race strategy, strength, discipline and long-term athlete development.
More Than Swimming: While competitive success is an important part of the program, Dolphin Swim Team Vineland’s mission extends beyond times, medals and championships.
The organization emphasizes teamwork, accountability, perseverance, leadership and sportsmanship while creating a positive environment where athletes can challenge themselves and support one another.
“Swimming teaches young athletes how to set goals, handle setbacks, work consistently, and be accountable to their teammates,” Masucci said. “Those are lessons that stay with them long after they leave the pool.”
The team’s family-centered approach also encourages parents and community members to become involved in supporting the program and its athletes.
Looking Ahead to Year Two: Following the establishment of the year-round program during the 2025–26 season, Dolphin Swim Team Vineland is entering its second year focused on continued growth.
The organization hopes to expand participation, strengthen its developmental program, continue developing championship-level swimmers and provide a competitive year-round option for families throughout Vineland and South Jersey.
Ultimately, Dolphin Swim Team Vineland wants local swimmers to know that they do not have to leave their community to pursue ambitious goals in the sport.
“We are proud of what was accomplished during our first year, but we really feel like we are just getting started,” Masucci said. “There is a tremendous amount of swimming talent in this area, and we are excited about what the future holds.”
