Second Saturdays on Main Street

There’s still one more chance to get to the Main Street Market. 

Downtown Mullica Hill’s Main Street Market runs June through September on the second Saturday of the month. Between 10 a.m and 3 p.m., local vendors, farmers and businesses set up on Main Street – primarily in the parking lot of Mullica Hill Baptist Church – and offer seasonal goods. 

Shops and eateries on Main Street are open, too, making it an opportunity to get a taste of everything downtown has to offer. Many of the boutiques and antique stores offered special deals and discounts during the day of the market. 

Main Street Market was introduced back in summer 2024 by Hazel Dilsaver, owner of Farm House Design and Bella Grace Coffee & Cafe, both on Main Street. It was created as a way to highlight the farmers, makers and artisans across town and the nearby area, not just the businesses on Main Street.

The market has become a popular attraction for residents and visitors alike. Even in the summer heat and humidity, there is still plenty of foot traffic (and paw traffic! There are always plenty of dogs to stop and say hi to). 

There were 14 vendors set up in the parking lot at the most recent market held on August 8. There was a mix of longtime vendors – like Spotted Horse Provisions, a sustainable and artisan jarred goods business – and ones who were only at the market for the first or second time, like GF Goodies by Jenn, who serves homemade gluten-free desserts, and LIA Boutique, a Black-owned mobile bookstore selling a variety of books by Black authors. Plus, there were food and drink trucks.

Fresh produce at the August market was from Murphy’s Farm Market. Murphy’s is based in Swedesboro, and its market building was located on Route 322. On August 10, two days after the Main Street Market, the owners announced on Facebook that the market would be closing its physical building. While its own retail shop will no longer be in service, Murphy’s produce and goods will still be available at markets, including Main Street Market, and other festivals throughout the area. 

Other items for sale? Fresh teas, local lavender, organic eggs, homemade jams and honey, tallow soap, jewelry, embroidered towels and dog treats.

On the porch of body positive-boutique Annie’s Cranny, located right across the street from the church, local musicians performed live music that added to the overall atmosphere of the community gathering.

The final Main Street Market of the season will be held on Saturday, September 12 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., wrapping the market’s third season.
