After being shut down with limited service for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bellmawr Library at 35 East Browning Road re-opened its doors to the public Monday, April 12.

“We are extremely excited to welcome library patrons back inside our facilities,” said County Commissioner Melinda Kane, liaison to the Camden County Library System.

“Our staff has put enhanced cleaning and sanitization procedures in place to ensure the safety of visitors, and furniture and computers have been spaced to allow for appropriate social distancing. By wearing masks and keeping visits shorter, library patrons will be able to once again browse the shelves in person,” she said.

Camden County Library System will begin gradually reopening to the public, starting with limited services and hours at its larger branches.

This marks the first time indoors, in-person services have been available to library patrons since facilities returned to primarily curbside operations amidst the fall and winter surge in COVID-19 activity, Kane said.

In addition to the gradual reopening of larger branches, all of the Camden County Library System’s branches are also continuing to offer contactless pickup options.

Seven library branches opened to the public on Monday, April 12: Bellmawr, Camden Downtown, Ferry Ave., Gloucester Township, Haddon Township, South County, and Vogelson. Each branch will be open during the following hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wednesday and Thursday: 4 to 8 p.m.

Patrons are asked to limit in-person visits to one hour.

No-contact pickup remains available at these branches, and is also being expanded. No-contact pickup will be available Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Established in 1921, Camden County Library System seeks to meet the recreational, informational and educational needs of its customers with locations in Camden, Bellmawr, Gloucester Township, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Winslow Township and Voorhees Township.

“We are hard at work providing virtual services and planning how to reopen in ways that prioritize your safety and the safety of library staff. This web page is updated when we add new services,” Kane said.

“The Camden County Library System welcomes you back inside our buildings! We continue to take extra precautions and ask you to do so, too,” Kane said.
