Deptford Township Schools recently announced the selection of Steve DiPatri as the new head coach of its girls basketball program, according to a Facebook post. A Vineland local and a former coach at Sacred Heart High School, DiPatri then coached Wildwood Catholic’s girls team and brought a high degree of success there. He resigned from that position on May 3 after 13 seasons at the helm.
Coach DiPatri brings a remarkable legacy of excellence to Deptford, with over 600 career wins and a reputation as one of New Jersey’s most accomplished high school basketball coaches. During his time at Sacred Heart, he led the program to two state championships and multiple conference championships, while building a culture of discipline, teamwork, and success. He continued that winning tradition at Wildwood Catholic, adding additional conference championships and further strengthening his outstanding coaching résumé.
His impact extends well beyond the court. Coach DiPatri has helped guide dozens of student-athletes to the collegiate level, and his contributions to the game have earned him induction into the New Jersey State Coaches Hall of Fame. Most recently, he was honored as New Jersey’s John Wooden Award winner for the 2024–2025 school year, recognizing his dedication to education, character, community service, and excellence.
He is the winningest coach in Cape-Atlantic League history.
