Six Girl Scouts from Troop 30462 were honored for their advancement during a bridging ceremony at the Orchard Family Success Center in Sicklerville on June 23.
Family and friends gathered in the small, festively decorated room to celebrate the achievement of the Scouts as they advanced to the Junior and Cadette levels. Each girl took a turn standing beneath a rainbow balloon arch and shared a few words about what it means to be a Scout.
During the ceremony, each was presented with a certificate, a small gift from her Scout leaders and a goodie bag.
Scout leader Brandy Young’s remarks acknowledged each girl’s unique talents and the growth that led to their milestones.
“We saw girls step outside of their comfort zones, lead meetings, sell cookies, run businesses, learn new skills, make new friends and discover strengths they may not have known they had,” she noted. “Some girls reached every goal they set, while others learned that simply showing up and trying their best is an accomplishment.
“Every single girl here contributed something special to our troop, and our troop would not be the same without each one of them.”
Young also praised her troop for excelling in opportunities that demonstrated leadership and created a sense of community. Under Young’s leadership alongside co-leader Myraim Acevedo, the Girl Scouts learned valuable skills throughout the year by participating in badge work and community activities, Young emphasized.
“The Girl Scout cookie program,” she explained, “helped them develop confidence, responsibility, financial literacy, and teamwork skills while making a positive impact in our community. We are especially proud of the confidence and maturity they displayed as they advanced to the next level of Girl Scouting.”
Junior Scout Arianna H. (full last names of Scouts were withheld for privacy reasons) was excited to move to the next level in her troop.
“I like the different fun activities,” she said, “and we get to learn life skills.”
