Monroe Township held its Appreciation Day and Music Festival on a hot and sunny June 6 at Owens Park.

The heat didn’t deter residents from enjoying more than 100 vendors offering food and unique merchandise. Carnival-style rides and games were also available.

Highlights included performances by the Goodman Fiske Band, which headlined the local rock favorites on the main stage. Later in the evening, Saltwater Country entertained residents with country hits on a second stage.

A beer and wine garden was hosted by the Williamstown Fire Department and free shuttles were provided from Williamstown Middle School to transport residents to the park.

The event was presented by the township’s Parks and Recreation Commission. Among sponsors who made the day possible were United Rentals, Newfield National Bank, Texas Roadhouse and the White Horse RV Center.

Saint Mary’s School also represented a vendor at at the event. Jackie Kern, Advancement and Admission Director at the school, shared her thoughts.

“This event is a wonderful way to bring the community together,” she said, “a wonderful way for us to share fun activities, get to know one another and for all of our businesses to be here and enjoy a really good time.”

A Game So Fine, a sports accessory vendor, was among the many businesses offering specialized items to suit the unique interests of guests. Owner and founder Erin Ayala shared Kern’s sentiments regarding the day’s festivities.

“It’s been a great event,” she enthused, “with tons of people walking around, enthusiastic crowds all looking to have a good time, listen to the music, buy cute things and have fun.”

The day ended with an evening display of fireworks.
