Police arrest escaped prisoner

Monroe Township police arrested a 44-year-old male on May 14 who had walked away from the South Woods State Prison halfway house in Bridgeton the day before.

Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of North Tuckahoe Road at 2:22 a.m. for a report of a suspicious person in the area. Officers located Jerome Lindsey, who was then arrested on an outstanding warrant related to the escape.

At the time of his arrest, Lindsey was allegedly found in possession of items believed to have been stolen from neighborhood vehicles. Any resident who believes their vehicle may have been involved is asked to contact police dispatch at (856) 728-0800 and request an officer respond to file a police report. It is possible that recovered property may belong to local residents, police said.
