The Berlin Police Department has received a grant for seat-belt enforcement through the annual Click it or Ticket campaign, which started on May 11 and runs through May 31.
Officers attended the annual campaign kickoff at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on May 4 with numerous officers and officials from the tri-state area promoting seat-belt safety. The Phillie Phanatic was also on hand to greet the officers.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration administrator Jonathan Morrison offered remarks on the seat-belt campaign.
“We stand here at the beginning of another summer travel season with a clear and urgent mission,” he said. “This high-visibility enforcement effort isn’t just about writing tickets, it’s about a relentless reminder of the thin line between a close call and a tragedy.
“To put it simply: Seat belts save lives.”
Among young adults from 18 to 34 who were killed in passenger vehicles in 2024, a staggering 59% were unrestrained, one of the highest percentages of any age group. It’s why the national media campaign – with new ads like “Reflecting” and “Pulled Over” – is laser-focused on reaching young men.
“As we head into the Memorial Day weekend in a few weeks,” Morrison noted, “we encourage everyone to pause and honor the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The best way we can honor the gift of life is by protecting it.
“… We urge every rider to buckle up – every trip, every time, day and night.”
