Moorestown community invited to shape school district’s three-year plan

Moorestown Township Public Schools (MTPS) set an ambitious goal of including every voice in the district in its strategic planning process. Hundreds of students and staff members already have shared their perspectives about learning, connection and community.  

The district also wants to hear from community members as it develops a blueprint to guide the next three years. After holding a community input session in April, MTPS will offer two more sessions this month:  

• Thursday, May 7, 9:30 a.m.: William Allen Middle School  
• Tuesday, May 12, 6:30 p.m.: Isenberg Gym, Moorestown High School
  

Dr. Tracey Severns, an educational consultant with Teach4Results, will lead the interactive, high-energy sessions.  

Community members work in teams to identify the district’s strengths and recommend steps for continued success.  

“Every voice is heard, and every viewpoint is acknowledged and used to form the plan,” Severns said. “Our sessions ensure 100 percent participation in a process that offers 100 percent transparency.” 

Community members also are encouraged to share their input thoughtfully online by answering questions that are distinct from the ones asked during the in-person sessions.  

Feedback from both the online input and in-person sessions will help the district identify priorities in the areas of academic progress, curriculum, community engagement and technology. 

All feedback will be reviewed, analyzed and organized into a strategic plan for the Board of Education to approve in June so the district can begin implementing it in September.
