A 52-year-old Cherry Hill man has been charged in the shooting of another male in the parking lot of the Liberty Bell Bank Plaza shopping center on April 15, according to township police and the county prosecutor’s office.
Terrence Roberts faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and possession of a weapon in the shooting of the 61-year-old male, who is in stable condiition at Cooper University Hospital, police said.
Township police responded to the call of a shooting at the Route 70 East shopping center at about 3:53 p.m. and found the victim in his vehicle with a gunshot wound. Police say Roberts allegedly shot the man as he drove his car alongside the victim’s in the plaza parking lot. Police have not identified a motive.
Investigators used surveillance video footage to track Roberts’ vehicle to his residence on April 16, and a search there turned up multiple firearms, including a large-capacity magazine. Roberts was charged the same day and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility. He will have a detention hearing in Camden County Superior Court on a date to be determined.
In a press release, township Police Chief John Ostermueller praised law enforcement in the case.
“The quick response, diligent police work and our effective technology investments proved invaluable as we were able to identify and take this offender into custody without further incident,” he said.
