The Mount Holly Police Department – in partnership with the township – hosted a memorial on March 28 to honor the lives and service of its officers Donald Aleshire and John Holmes, along with Hainesport officer William Wurst. This year marks the 51st anniversary of the Good Friday Massacre on March 28, 1975, when the three men responded to a sniper on Garden Street in Mount Holly. Aleshire and Wurst died at the scene, while Holmes was left paralyzed and later died.
