Among the night of awards and recognitions during Berlin Fire Company No. 1’s installation dinner on Jan. 17, one went to a familiar face at the top: Fire Chief Mark Maloney.

The chief received the 2025 Berlin Borough Emergency Management Leadership Award. Rushi Pandya, the borough’s emergency management coordinator, said in a social media post that it was an honor and privilege to present the award to the fire chief, who “consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership, dedication, and hard work through the Borough of Berlin.
