The Harrison Township Recreation Commission is planning summer camps for kids of all ages.

Already open for registration at signupgenius.com is the summer theater camp, It’s Gonna be Golden, for kids 7 years old and up. The three-week program – which has a fee – will take place at Pleasant Valley School from Monday through Thursday beginning July 10. Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The camp is themed around the Golden Globe-winning film, “KPop Demon Hunters,” and will use K-pop-inspired choreography and music to help campers develop confidence, teamwork skills and creativity. A performance featuring participants will take place at 6 p.m. on the last day of the camp, also at Pleasant Valley School.

“Parents like to plan out their summers now even though it’s winter,” said Recreation Coordinator Sharon Chew. “Parents usually register quickly. There are certain camps that are eye-catching.”

The recreation commission is also partnering with The Dance Factory in Glassboro to host two summer camps. Registration will open at a later date.

Several camps for preschoolers will help kids learn basic skills to prepare for school by using themes like superheroes, planes, trains and automobiles. Dates and registration have yet to be announced.

“Teachers we’ve partnered with have been working hard on setting up these events and getting everything ready,” said Chew.

Several sports camps are also in the works. The recreation commission is teaming with the Riverwinds in West Deptford for a tennis camp in June. Sessions will take place about four days a week from Wednesday, June 17, through Monday, Aug. 17. Times have yet to be determined, but registration is expected to open soon.

The USA Sports Group camp is scheduled for the week of July 20. Sessions are also planned on Thursdays from April 23 to June 18.

“It offers different types of sports,” Chew explained. “It’s real popular, since it offers a variety of sports in case a certain one isn’t their cup of tea.”

Additional information about summer camps can be found at USA Sports Group website.
