“Juvenile detention officers play a crucial role in helping young people get back on the right track,” Young said. “I commend these graduates for their commitment to service and looked forward to seeing them succeed in these new roles.”

The graduation recognized the completion of a rigorous training program by nine recruits representing both Camden and Middlesex counties. The graduates are:

  • Nicholas Armwood: Camden County Juvenile Detention Center
  • Aysiah Harvey: Camden County Juvenile Detention Center
  • Yves-Rene Lominy: Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center
  • Briante Mauldin: Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center
  • Melinda Steward-Cobbs: Camden County Juvenile Detention Center
  • D’Nashia Townsend: Camden County Juvenile Detention Center
  • Shawn Tucker: Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center
  • Jeniffer Vargas: Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center

Each graduate earned recognition for completing the academy as preparation to begin work in regional facilities that play a significant role in youth rehabilitation.
