Manna refers to the miraculous food that God provided to the Israelites during their 40 years in the wilderness, as described in the Bible and Quran.
In recent weeks – especially during the federal government shutdown, cuts to SNAP benefits and the Thanksgiving holiday season – the food pantry at First Baptist Church of Moorestown has been blessed with what we are calling Manna on Main Street.
Thanks to the generosity of countless people in Moorestown, we recently received a bounty of donations that has allowed us to keep our pantry shelves (and fridges/freezers too) well stocked and to be able to welcome and feed a record number of guests coming through our church doors. In addition to the regular food and non-food items that we offer whenever the pantry is open, the amazing community support during November allowed us to provide full dinners including turkeys, tote bags filled with all the Thanksgiving “fixings” and pumpkin pies to our clients to help them celebrate the holiday with their families.
We are so very grateful to the local businesses, civic organizations, churches, schools, scout troops, etc. and individuals in the community who step forward and just want to lend a hand to their fellow human beings in these difficult times.
And the need continues: Our pantry is currently feeding well over 300 people a week, including children, adults and senior citizens. The FBCM food pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7 p.m. We welcome your continued support.
