The American Red Cross urges donors to keep the blood supply top of mind and help save lives by making an appointment to give blood or platelets – especially those with types O and B negative. Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be held at Washington Lake Park. The event offers a warm, family-friendly atmosphere inside a large, heated tent and features cookies donated by our local bakery Liscio’s, hot chocolate, and photo opportunities with Mr. and Mrs. Mouse. It’s a festive environment designed to encourage giving and spread holiday cheer. In partnership with local businesses, Dayna’s Party Rentals has organized donation boxes across the area to gather toys, which will be delivered to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program. Last year’s campaign saw over 25 local businesses participate, and we are aiming for an even greater impact this year.

The Washington Township Veterans Wall of Honor is accepting applications. Please note that eligibility to have a plaque on the Wall is: a Veteran who is a resident of Washington Township at the time of entrance into the military, a current resident, a member of a current resident’s immediate family (parent, spouse, sibling, or child). Kindly include the Veteran’s DD 214 and submit a 5×7 photo, preferably in uniform. Applications are available in the Municipal Building. License Your Furry Friend. Licensing your dog is not just a state requirement, but it also helps reunite lost pets with their owners and supports local animal services. The licenses expire Jan. 31 of each year.
The Washington Saves Lives Program is available for residents to use seven days a week between the hours 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. for a free ride from any bar or restaurant located within the township to their home. The Washington Township Police Department is participating in the new Special Needs Registry and Blue Envelope Program sponsored by the Gloucester County Police Chief’s Association and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office. The registry gives police quick access in an emergency to critical information about a person who is registered. Individuals will also get a blue window decal as well as a blue envelope for their vehicle. These items let the police know that the occupants have a physical or mental condition that may not be apparent to the officer on scene.
