The Washington Township Presidents’ Council will sponsor the 2025 Meet the Candidates Forum, moderated by Janet Fisher-Hughes from the League of Women’s Voters of Camden County, in the Eileen Abbott Central Administration Board Room, 206 E. Holly Avenue in Sewell, on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
The event that begins at 7 p.m. will introduce the eight petitioners seeking three available three-year seats on the Washington Township Board of Education.
Candidates will field questions posed by interested Washington Township residents in attendance at the forum. The program will be recorded in its entirety and aired on WT-TV (channel 9 on Comcast/channel 36 on Verizon, as well as online at www.youtube.com/wttvproductions) in the weeks preceding the November 4th school board election.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan, political organization whose purpose is to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in government.
The following candidates are seeking the three available seats for three-year terms on the Washington Township Board of Education: Connie Baker (incumbent), Julie Kozempel (incumbent), Sean Lindsay, Angelo Marano, James Masotti, Terri Schechter, Ben Smith, and Brandy Williams.
Residents will get another chance to meet the candidates on Oct. 22. Participants will get to know their platforms and visions for the school district during the roundtable that will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Washington Township Senior Center, 315 Greentree Road in Sewell.
The roundtable is sponsored by the Gloucester County Education Association, Washington Township Schools Supportive Services, and Washington Township Education Association.
