Twenty-four recruits took the next step in their law-enforcement careers on Sept. 18 as they graduated from the Camden County College Police Academy.
The graduation took place at the Dennis Flyer Theater on the Blackwood campus of the college.
The graduates make up the 91st Basic Police Recruit Class who completed months of intensive training at the Camden County Regional Emergency Training Center. Of the 24 recruits, 10 will join the Camden County Police Department, while others will begin service in departments across Camden, Burlington and Gloucester counties.
County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. praised the recruits’ dedication to public service.
“These recruits have answered a call to serve, and we are grateful for their courage,” he said. “I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in our communities for years to come.”
The ceremony included a keynote address from Evesham Township Police Chief Thomas Reinholt. Family members of the graduates will also take part in the tradition of “badge pinning,” where loved ones place a new badge on each recruit.
Many recruits are pinned by parents, siblings or relatives who’ve also served in law enforcement, representing a first-generation step into public service.
The graduation ceremony is more than just a formal event; it marks the transformation of recruits into sworn officers and recognizes their months of rigorous physical, academic and tactical training, while also emphasizing the ethical standards that come with the badge. It also reinforces the bond between law enforcement and the public.

The police academy is part of Camden County College and located at the Regional Emergency Training Center in Lakeland.
