As the Palmyra School District begins the 2025-’26 school year, the district is launching its five-year strategic planning process initiative, beginning next year and ending in 2031.
“This initiative will help us set priorities, align resources and establish a clear direction for the next five years,” school Superintendent Florencia Norton told the district community on Sept. 4.
“The process will build on the accomplishments of our 2021-2026 plan, while addressing the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
The 2021-’26 plan started right before COVID hit. It set ambitious goals focusing on pushing the district forward in terms of educational equity; improving academic performance,;collaborating with the community; nurturing student wellness; and improving student experiences, ensuring financial soundness.
A steering committee made up of board members, staff, parents, students and community representatives will guide the work for the upcoming plan.
“The committee will review data, reflect on our progress, and help shape goals in key areas such as academic achievement, equity, wellness, career pathways, facilities and technology,” explained Norton, who began leading the district on July 1.
“Community engagement will be central to this process,” she added. “Over the coming months, you will have opportunities to share your input through surveys, listening sessions and focus groups. Your feedback will be essential in ensuring that our plan reflects the values and aspirations of the entire Palmyra community.”
Updates and opportunities to participate in the process will be posted on the district’s website and through ParentSquare.
“Together we can shape a strong and vibrant future for our schools,” Norton encouraged.
