The Voorhees Theatre Company (VTC) is a nonprofit community theatre based at the Raymond
J. Brosel Performing Arts Center at Voorhees Middle School. Its mission is to offer
performance and educational opportunities to artists on stage and behind the scenes, and to bring
audiences professional-caliber performances.
VTC is well known for educating and nurturing young performers, a safe harbor for local artists of all ages.
Since forming in 2002, it has staged a wide variety of productions, including “Peter Pan,”
“Footloose,” “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Beauty and the Beast.” VTC also offers a summer theatre camp and produces two main-stage productions each year, a summer musical for high-school performers and older and a fall musical for performers 8 and older.
This fall’s production will be the beloved Broadway classic, “Annie.” Based on the popular comic
strip, it has won seven Tony Awards and features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written,
including the song, “Tomorrow.”
Auditions for “Annie” will take place Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Callbacks – by invitation only – will happen on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and rehearsals will begin Sunday. Performers 8 and older are invited to audition and should come dressed to dance and be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song from the show or a song of their choice that displays vocal range and ability.
No accompanist will be provided, but performers can download instrumental accompaniment. Visit the VTC website, voorheestheatre.org, to obtain an audition form and additional information. A non-refundable $25 audition fee – payable by cash, check or Venmo – will be charged. A $125 costume/production fee will be collected from all cast members by Monday, Sept. 15.
“Annie” will be performed four times: Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. To learn more about the show or about VTC, visit voorheestheatre.org or call (856) 206-3554.
