With paddles in hand and smoothies in reach, community members gathered on Saturday, July 12, to celebrate the grand opening of the Pickle Juice Pickleball Club, a brand-new indoor facility located at 1001 South Black Horse Pike. The event, filled with open-play sessions, live music, and fresh refreshments, culminated in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor David Mayer at noon.
This marks the second New Jersey location for Pickle Juice, which opened its first facility in Ventnor. The Gloucester Township club features four Pro-Cushion indoor courts, a bright juice bar, and a fully stocked pro shop—making it a year-round destination for fun, fitness, and community connection.
The club is owned by Lisa and Jeff Brody, Brad Wimmer, and David Slobotkin, who are also owners of the Princeton Bruisers, a team competing in the National Pickleball League (NPL). The NPL is a professional league focused on attracting players aged 50 and older, helping elevate the sport’s profile nationwide.
“Pickleball is becoming more and more popular because it’s a sport for all ages,” said Mayor Mayer. “It’s played on a smaller court, with a lighter ball, and is much more accessible than some other sports. We installed new outdoor courts last year, and now with this indoor facility, residents can enjoy the game no matter the weather.”
The indoor location brings more than just shelter from the elements—it brings people together. As music played and players rotated through games and social time, the club’s energy reflected how pickleball is reshaping how communities gather and stay active.

One of the club’s unique features is its health-focused juice bar, an idea sparked when one of the owners noticed she would always grab a juice after playing. The concept of pairing pickleball with wellness caught on—and now it’s a core part of the Pickle Juice brand.
“This is another example of successful economic development in our township,” said Mayer. “It shows how entrepreneurs are investing in Gloucester Township in creative and community-focused ways.”
Mayer said one of his favorite moments was interacting with Slobotkin, as well as chatting with players after their games.
“I don’t play—yet—but it was great seeing the excitement and enthusiasm,” he add. “It’s a healthy, low-impact sport that I’d encourage anyone to try.”
As pickleball continues its rapid rise nationwide, the Gloucester Township location is poised to become a local hub for clinics, lessons, leagues, and casual games.
