Rev your engines and meet some four-legged heroes as borough police host their 2025 K-9 car show fundraiser at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Berlin Farmers Market.
The community-centered event will feature not only cars, but music, awards, a beer garden, food trucks and a chance to connect with the police department’s K-9 unit.
āThis event is about more than just cars,ā said Lt. Joshua Smith. āItās a fundraiser, but itās also an opportunity for the community to meet our K-9 officers and handlers, learn about the program and show support for the work we do.ā
The annual car show is a critical fundraiser for the K-9 unit, which is funded largely through donations and sponsorships. Proceeds will go toward training, food, health care, equipment and even the maintenance of specialized police vehicles used in K-9 operations.
āThese dogs arenāt just a part of our force, theyāre part of our family,ā Smith elaborated. āThey play an important role in everything from drug detection to search and rescue, and supporting them helps make our entire community safer.ā
Attendees at this yearās car show can expect a multi-class car competition, along with Berlin officers and their K-9 partners available for demonstrations and meet and greets.
āThe goal is to create a positive environment for everyone, families, car enthusiasts and those who simply want to come out and support our department,ā noted Smith. āWhether itās enjoying a bite to eat, taking home a giveaway, or just shaking an officerās hand, every bit of community support makes a difference.ā
Even those who canāt attend the full event are encouraged to show their support or consider sponsoring the fundraiser.
āIf you canāt stay long, just stop by to say hello or grab a t-shirt,ā Smith added. āItās those small moments of connection that really strengthen our bond with the community.ā
The car show will be held rain or shine on the spacious grounds of the farmers market. Registration and sponsorship opportunities are still open, and local businesses are invited to take part.
āCommunity support is a huge part of what keeps our K-9 program running,ā Smith emphasized. āWhen people get to know the dogs and the officers, it builds trust and appreciation. Thatās what this night is really all about.ā
