All proceeds from the walk through seven gardens in the township will benefit the club’s civic projects.
The Moorestown Garden Club’s 2025 Garden Walk, sponsored by Beth and Charles Berry of Weichert Premier, will be held on June 6 and 7.
Friday’s walk will be held from noon to 8 p.m. and on the following day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the club’s civic projects.
This year’s event will feature seven unique gardens, including the Moorestown Community Garden on Camden Avenue, a property that has been tilled and planted by community gardeners since the mid-’80s. The site recently got a facelift that will protect its vegetables and flowers, making it easier to move in and out of the individual gardens.
Also on the tour there will be the courtyard garden at Trinity Episcopal Church on West Main Street, designed in the mid-’80s by Midge Ingersoll of the garden club. The church itself was funded by Eldridge Johnson – who funded the Community House – and both structures were designed by the same architect.
“The original garden was inspired by a small, English cloister garden (a type of garden typically found in monasteries and churches),” said Gina Zegel, co-chair of the walk.
Back by popular demand will be the Procida/Sulpizio garden. The chicken coup and the vegetable garden produce all summer long. Near the perennial garden bed sits a pool, where a dip after doing the trimming is welcome.
“It’s got a lot going on, but it’s very interesting to walk through because it’s so busy,” Zegel observed of the Procida/Sulpizio garden.
Other gardens that will be featured include the Wiseman Garden, the Skacel garden and the Pollock Garden, where several perennial spots with a variety of flowers and shrubs leave spaces for quiet reflection. The garden plantings of the Wiseman Garden were chosen and planted by the homeowners to complement the home’s classic style with its landscape of boxwood, roses, hydrangea and a sweeping lawn.
Tickets for the walk are available in advance for $20 at Moorestown Hardware, the Community House, Flagg’s Garden Center & Landscaping and Eric’s Nursery and Landscaping Services. They will also be available at the gardens on the day of the tour for $25. The event will be held rain or shine.
