Burlington County Superintendent of Elections staffers gave residents the opportunity to practice with the county’s voting machines during the county’s senior expo in Burlington Township earlier this month.
New voters and others interested in becoming more familiar with Burlington County voting machines can receive hands-on tutorials and demonstrations at the county’s Corner Store office between now and the June 10 primary election.
The county Superintendent of Elections staff will offer the tutorials twice a week at the office, 1020 Briggs Road, in Mount Laurel. Sessions will be offered on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In addition to the voting instruction, the election office staff will be available to answer questions and assist with other election-related matters, including registering to vote, vote by mail, early voting options, updating registration information and removing a deceased relative from the voter list.
“Voting is a fundamental right and we are proud to partner with the Burlington County clerk to make sure voters have the information they need to exercise that right however they choose,” said Superintendent of Elections Dawn Marie Addiego.
“Whether you’re a new voter registering for the first time, have a question about vote by mail or are looking for a refresher or practice with the voting machine, our staff will be there to assist.”
The voting machines consist of electronic ballot marking devices and tabulators and are also used during the early voting period. Voters unable to get to the County Corner Store for an in-person tutorial can also view a computer animation video that provides step-by-step descriptions of how to vote with the equipment.
