Deptford High’s Spartan Jazz Ensemble captured its fourth consecutive state championship on May 3, placing first in the 2025 New Jersey Association for Jazz Education finals at Metuchen High School. The Spartans also took home awards for best sightreading band of the night, best soloist, drums and bass and best rhythm section of the night. A school district Facebook post called the win an “unprecedented achievement.”
