As the Altima approached the Elantra from behind, its driver attempted to pass to the left across double yellow-lane markings, overtaking the Elantra and striking its driver side, police said. The impact caused the driver of the Altima to lose control of the vehicle and enter the eastbound lane of Berlin Crosskeys, where it traveled about 72 feet before striking a 2018 Chevy Equinox driven by a 41-year-old Glassboro woman. Her vehicle was traveling east on Berlin Crosskeys Road.

The force and direction of this secondary impact cause the Altima to rotate and come to a position of final rest 47 feet from its secondary impact. It was then struck by a 2025 Mazda C30 driven by a 27-year-old Galloway man that had been traveling eastbound behind the Equinox, according to the police report.

The force and direction of the impact between the Nissan and Equinox caused the latter to rotate and travel 19 feet to a final position within the eastbound shoulder lane and grass adjacent to the roadway. The woman suffered lower-body injuries and the Galloway man suffered upper body injuries. The Elantra driver was not injured.
