Happenings around Gloucester County

The South Jersey Museum of American History is located at 138 Andaloro Way. Through June 1st, the Museum will be presenting a World War II Exhibit featuring military as well as civilian paraphernalia. Some of these items include weapons, equipment, uniforms, flags, and coinage of both the Allied and Axis powers in the Pacific as well as the European theatres.

“Led by Love” Family Caregiver Support Group meetings are held monthly throughout the year from 9 a.m. to noon at 115 Budd Blvd., West Deptford. Dates include April 16, May 21, June 12, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, and Nov. 19.

Saturday, April 26 – 8 a.m. – Earth Day Clean-up at Brandemarti Field at Riverwinds Complex, 1000 Riverwinds Drive, West Deptford. Open to all non-profit organizations in Gloucester County. Participating groups will earn $500 for their community Service. Designated clean-up locations throughout West Deptford, Paulsboro and Gibbstown or your hometown.

Saturday, April 26 – 9 a.m. – Join the 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, April 26th at 432 Glover Street, Woodbury. This special event, hosted by Friends of the CACGC, raises awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention Month. All proceeds benefit the Child Advocacy Center of Gloucester County. Sunday, April 27 – 4 p.m. – Spring Fest and Earth Day Celebration at Red Bank Battlefield Park.

Serve-A-Tray program, which is for seniors 60 or older, is more than just a meal delivery – it’s about maintaining health, independence, and dignity for homebound seniors in the community. Participants receive a complete midday meal Monday through Friday, with frozen meals available for weekends. For more information call (856) 686-8325.

Gloucester County Senior Nutrition Sites offer well-balanced midday meals for residents 60 plus at Second Baptist Church, Paulsboro; First Baptist Church of Jericho, Deptford; Greenfields Volunteer Fire Company, Deptford; Pfeiffer Community, Williamstown; Glassboro Senior Center, Glassboro; and Mantua Township Community Center, Sewell. Gloucester County Nature Club

Monroe Township Community Affairs and Finns Friends will hold its fourth annual Autism Awareness Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pfeiffer Community Center. There will be a touch-a-truck, bounce houses, informational tables, petting zoo, sensory tables, face painting, balloon artist, Justin Thomas – ventriloquist, surprise character appearance, snacks, music and more.

Flags for Forgotten Soldiers will be held at 10 a.m., 700 Corkery Lane. Volunteers are needed to place the 660 flags representing the number of veterans who die by their own hand ever month. For more information contact the Monroe Township Public Works Department – Deb Bender at (856) 728-9844.

Spring Arts and Crafts festival will be held on Main Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will feature local crafters, food trucks, and various activities for kids, including a petting zoo, bounce houses, and face painting.

Monroe Township Police Explorers

Meetings first and third Monday each month at 7 p.m., Monroe Township police headquarters. Open to those ages 14-21. Learn career-based skills designed to educate and prepare for a career in law enforcement or criminal justice.

Military Tribute Banner Program
