Two “young and energetic” officers are now part of the Monroe Township Police Department.

Officers Darren Darcangelo and Zachary Bourgeois were officially sworn in during a council meeting in late January. Both are lifelong residents of the township and are graduates of Williamstown High School in 2023 and 2022, respectively.

Police Chief Ryan Borkowski introduced the officers at their swearing-in ceremony surrounded by family and friends. First Darcangelo, then Bourgeois.

“During his time at Williamstown High School, (Darcangelo)] distinguished himself through academic excellence,” Borkowski said, noting the officer’s academic excellence, a 90-plus GPA over all four years, and athletic achievements in football, baseball and ice hockey.

Darcangelo, who joins his father, Sgt. Donald Darcangelo, in blue, graduated from the Gloucester County Police Academy in December 2024. He is continuing his studies at Rowan College of South Jersey.

Like Darcangelo, Bourgeois played football in high school. After graduation, he held multiple jobs and gained valuable work experience, Borkowski noted. Bourgeois also graduated from the police academy in December 2024.
