To help keep your vehicles safe and secure, please follow some of the Voorhees Township Police
Department’s guidelines.
– Adopt the 9 p.m. routine: Make it a habit to lock your car doors and close all windows
by that time each night. That can significantly reduce the risk of theft.
– Keep valuables out of sight to deter thieves and keep your belongings safe.
– Invest in a steering wheel lock. Using a locking device mounted on your steering wheel
can serve as an effective deterrent, making it much harder for intruders to drive away
with your car.
– Secure your keys: Always remove your keys from the ignition when leaving
your vehicle unattended. Keep your garage door opener out of the car to prevent
intruders from easily accessing your home.
– Protect your tires: Since car tires are often targeted, consider installing a wheel lock
system to make it more challenging for anyone to remove your tires and rims.
– Stay vigilant: If you notice any suspicious activity, call 911 or the non-emergency
police line at (856) 428-5400 to report a theft tht has already occurred. Your awareness can
play a vital role in preventing crime in your area.
By implementing these proactive measures, you can help contribute to a safer environment for
yourself and your community.
The Voorhees Township Police Department will host its annual Citizens Police Academy
beginning on Thursday, March 6. Participants will meet on most Thursday nights from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. and the program will conclude with a graduation ceremony on April 10.
