New Jersey Tax Advocate Daryl Tucker will discuss tax filing during sessions at the Mullica Hill library on Feb. 5 and 19.

The Mullica Hill library will host two sessions with New Jersey Tax Advocate Darol Tucker at the library on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 5 p.m.

With tax season on the horizon, the IRS has announced that filing season has begun and will continue through Tuesday, April 15. The aim of the library sessions is to help answer questions from the community about the process.

“These sessions will provide insights into resolving tax-related concerns, navigating IRS challenges and understanding the services available to protect your rights,” said Andrew Brenza, the library’s head of adult services.

Tucker has been working for the IRS for close to 20 years, according to his LinkedIn page, and is a local taxpayer advocate. He has also served as a revenue officer and recruiter, and is also an advocate for the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS).

Tucker works for state taxpayers in Trenton but has also been employed by the IRS in New York and the Carolinas. He has been honored for his work by Agostino & Associates – a law practice in Hackensack that focuses primarily on civil and criminal post-filing IRS controversies – for his work in helping low-income taxpayer communities.

“This honor was bestowed on me, but I must also thank my team for their outstanding advocacy efforts,” Tucker noted on LinkedIn. “In TAS, we have seen a significant increase in our workload, prior to and post-COVID, but advocacy remains at the forefront of our efforts to address unresolved tax issues.

“I will continue to instill an advocacy first, people always approach, regardless of income or social status.”

Registration is required for each of the two library sessions at the GCLS website. For additional information, call (856) 223-6050.

“Whether you’re facing delays, errors, or other tax issues,” Brenza said, “these sessions will provide valuable insights on how to access free support and advocacy services.”
