The Camden County Board of Commissioners will honor 13 residents for their unwavering dedication to community service at the 2025 Camden County Freedom Medal Ceremony tonight at 6 p.m.

The prestigious event, established in 2001, celebrates civic leaders whose actions and ideals reflect the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Over the past 24 years, more than 1,200 individuals have been recognized for their volunteer-driven contributions to the community.

Among the residents include Lisa Lewis, of Voorhees, a lawyer dedicated to justice and community empowerment, Davida Jacobe-Hart, of Sicklerville, and Michael and Kathleen VanStine, Gloucester Township.

Lewis has served with the Camden County Bar Association and co-founded the Volunteer Up Legal Clinic to educate middle school students on legal systems. Jacobe-Hart’s volunteer work in Winslow Township includes the Home and School Association and Kidzercise’s Afterschool Program. Her leadership extends to the township’s county committee, where she champions local initiatives.

Through the SpectraCare Foundation and Carlton R. Rouh Veterans Center, the VanStines have created a sanctuary for veterans, supporting their healing, growth and empowerment for over a decade.

Commissioner Jonathan Young will present the awards.

“The individuals selected for this prestigious award display true commitment to making the world a better place through actions such as community service, teaching, and more,” he said. “It warms my heart to know that we have so many incredible, selfless people who call Camden County home and who are dedicated to serving their communities.”

The 2025 Camden County Congressional Award will also be presented to Young for his exceptional contributions to the community. The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the Collingswood Ballroom, 315 White Horse Pike.
