A team of assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) will visit the Washington Township Police Department on Monday, Jan. 13 to evaluate the department’s compliance with their high standards of professional excellence.

This assessment is part of the department’s ongoing effort to achieve accreditation—a recognition of the department’s commitment to accountability, efficiency, and community trust.

As part of the process, employees and the public are invited to share their comments with the assessment team: Call (856) 589-6650 ext. 1153 on Jan. 13 between 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and/or email comments to jrowson@pd.twp.washington.nj.us

Telephone comments are limited to five minutes and must focus on the department’s ability to meet NJSACOP standards.

“We value your input and encourage you to participate in this important milestone for our department and Washington Township community,” said Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik, who said the department is seeking its second reaccreditation.

The department received accreditation in 2018 and received its first reaccreditation in 2020.
