Volunteers are the men and women who give their time serving on our boards, committees, leagues and organizations. We could not operate government without you. I would like to thank my fellow council members for their dedication and work on behalf of the residents of our great community.

As we enter the New Year, our goals remain the same:

  • Fiscal responsibility is our first priority.
  • Providing the best in service to our residents.
  • Keeping our neighborhoods safe and clean.
  • Keeping our business district and local businesses thriving.
  • Working every day on public safety.
  • Improving and maintaining our roads, building, parks and utility systems

Economic development news continues to be excellent: a Grocery Outlet store, Honda car dealership, movie theaters and hotels. We will be announcing tenants for the Bed Bath & Beyond location very soon and there is more to come.

Last month our community said goodbye to an icon in Deptford’s history, Deputy Mayor Thomas Hufnell. We honor Tommy, we thank him for making Deptford a better place, for his dedication, his many years of dedicated service and last but not least, his years as an elected official.

Tommy loved Deptford and he proved it by his involvement in so many organizations and years of giving his time to our youth sports organizations, to our civic organizations, to our political organization and to our residents.

Working together with every resident is what makes Deptford special. Our motto in Deptford is the “Sky is the limit” and our enthusiasm for our community is also limitless. Thank you and have a happy and healthy new year.
