The Mullica Hill library will host local writer Tony DiGerolamo at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, so he can share his insights on getting published.

DiGerolamo, a Camden native who now lives in Clementon, has been writing for almost 30 years, according to his LinkedIn profile, producing screenplays, comic books and novels. His credits include writing for Bongo Comics’ “Simpsons” and “Bart Simpson” series and for HBO’s “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.” He also authored “The Pineys” novella series, a mix of comedy and horror that focuses on a family of hunters taking on the Jersey Devil and its kin.

” … Tony DiGerolamo is here to tell you all the terrible secrets of the book industry,” the library noted on its website. “But don’t worry. In South Jersey, you’re just as likely to be published as anywhere else. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work, because getting published these days is a whole lot different than before the internet.”

DiGerolamo also created Super Frat, a web comic published on superfrat.com, and he is the co-founder of the Webcomic Factory, a site that posts content on a daily basis. Its specialties include comedy, improv, scripts, jokes and genre-based entertainment like comic books and RPGs.

“It’s like the Sunday funnies online,” DeGerolamo explained of the site on LinkedIn, referring to traditional newspaper comics.

Webcomic Factory has a PG-13 rating and includes the titles “Tony Destructo,” “Post Apocalyptic Nick” and “I Hate My Kids.”

DiGerolamo’s appearance at the library is free and open to both teens and adults. Registration is required online at the GCLS website. For more information, call the library at (856) 223-6050.

“Whether you want to do a book, comic book, role-playing game or anything else in print,” the library website notes of the writer’s appearance, “your journey begins with the basics. Let’s begin.”
