The Haddon Fortnightly recently challenged students from area elementary schools to turn their artistic talents into cover designs for greeting cards with the themes of holiday or Kindness.

Sixty-six entries were received and the winners were invited to a reception early last month at The Fortnightly, where they were presented with award certificates and coupons for the Yogo Factory in Haddon Township.

Fortnightly President Sue Sheehan commended the entrants’ talents and stressed the difficulty the judges had in selecting winners. She encouraged the young artists to follow their dreams and share their talents with others, as the members of the Fortnightly have strived to do for 130 years.

The angelic design by Bryana Cruz, called Joy to the World, has been selected for the cover of the Fortnightly’s holiday card. The winning cards are blank inside and are available for purchase. Email susanfoley43@yahoo.com for more information.

The winning entrants are:

First Place-Grades K-2: Henry Harmon, second grade, Central Elementary School in Haddonfield

First Place-Grades 3-5: Susanna Banks, fourth grade, Central Elementary School in Haddonfield

First Place-Grades 6-8: Bryana Cruz, sixth grade, William G. Rohrer Middle School, Haddon Township
