Students in teacher Alicia Hathaway’s class at Shady Lane Elementary School in Deptford made about 120 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless earlier this month. The class assignment came after students read the story “Scarcity” and discussed the question, “How can we work together to meet people’s needs?” Materials were provided by the students’ families.
