Eastern Regional High School’s Project Graduation Club is gearing up for its annual holiday craft show on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the school.
The event includes shopping opportunities, an emphasis on community spirit and critical fundraising for Project Graduation, a parent-driven initiative that emphasizes a safe, alcohol- and drug-free celebration for graduates.
Co-chairs Rekha Veluchamy Pandian and Jyothi Murarishetty emphasized the importance of the craft show in supporting the club.
“The annual craft show is a cornerstone fundraising event for Project Graduation,” said Pandian. “It provides a vibrant marketplace for local artisans and vendors while directly funding the costs of the graduation-night celebration. This event ensures our seniors have a safe and memorable experience to mark their achievements.”
“The show is more than a fundraiser,” Murarishetty noted. “It’s a celebration of our community coming together for a shared purpose. The funds raised help cover venue expenses, transportation, entertainment, and more, making it possible for every student to participate.”
This year’s craft show is shaping up to be the largest yet, with more than 125 vendors offering a wide variety of handcrafted goods and holiday gifts, from unique jewelry and gift baskets to elegant home décor and wood crafts.
“Attendees can also enjoy fan favorites like kettle popcorn and roasted nuts while shopping,” said Murarishetty. “It’s a festive and family-friendly event that truly captures the holiday spirit.”
The show’s proceeds are critical to the success of Project Graduation. With expenses averaging $40,000 for a class of 250 to 300 students, contributions from vendor fees, concession sales and community donations have a significant impact.
“Our goal this year is to raise a substantial portion of the funds needed to host the graduation-night celebration,” Murarishetty said. “Every dollar raised brings us closer to creating a safe and unforgettable experience for our seniors.”
Beyond attending the craft show, there are numerous ways to support Project Graduation, including sharing event details on social media and within community groups; contributing funds or in-kind items, such as concession supplies; volunteering, including parent and student help with craft show set-up; and initiatives like the Panda Express fundraiser on Dec. 18.
“Volunteering not only helps achieve our fund-raising goals,” Pandian offered, “but also strengthens the sense of community around this important cause. It’s rewarding to know you’re contributing to the safety and happiness of our seniors.”
“Graduation night can be a risky time for teens,” Pandian added. “Project Graduation ensures students have a memorable experience with their classmates while staying safe from dangerous behaviors.”
